Recycling for Flats and Estates
This page provides information on the recycling facilities that have been provided to a number of blocks of flats and housing estates in Haringey.
- How to use the near-entry recycling facilities
- What can be recycled?
- What happens to the material I put out for recycling?
- Recycling for flats above shops (clear sack collections)
All materials can be put into the same container. Please put only the correct items into the recycling bin, through the flap at the top of the bin.
You can take your recycling to the nearest bin at any time during the day, but please consider other residents by only using the bins between 8am and 9pm. All recycling bins will be emptied once a week.
To report full or vandalised bins please contact the Veolia Haringey Contact Centre:
Tel: 020 8885 7700
You can recycle the following materials:
- Drink cartons
- Plastic bottles
- Plastic pots, tubs and trays (no film or wrapping)
- Tins and cans
- Glass bottles and jars
There is a more detailed list of items that can (and cannot) be recycled on the what to recycle page.
The recyclables collected are taken to a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in London or Essex which separates the materials using a combination of mechanical separation and hand sorting. Once separated these materials are then bulked and delivered to reprocessing companies.
For more information please see the mixed material collections section on the what happens to recycling page.
Most flats above shops, as well as some blocks of flats, do not have an appropriate space for recycling bins to be installed. In these locations, an alternative service is provided through regular collections of clear sacks. For more information, please visit the clear sack collection page.
