Haringey Council awarded funding to improve planning

This funding will help us create a much more modern and efficient planning system.

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) Digital Planning Programme is supporting further Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) through the latest funding round for digital services to improve planning.  This funding will enable a modern and efficient planning system, shifting a documents-based system to one that is data-driven, standards-based and powered by modern user-centred products and services.

Haringey Council submitted applications to two funds:

  • the Digital Planning Improvement Fund: Round 2
  • the PropTech Innovation Fund: Round 4

Expanding on our efforts from the previous year, the Digital Planning Improvement Fund is allocating £100,000 of funding to 43 LPAs to facilitate the implementation of modern planning practices within planning data, digital capabilities and development management software.

This vital funding will support Haringey Council to take advantage of digital service improvements, prepare for forthcoming legislation and begin collaborating with other local authorities, technology providers and DLUHC on software and data projects.

The largest UK Government PropTech programme is The PropTech Innovation Fund. Having supported 65 pilots across 47 LPAs to work with industry at pace and scale, they have significantly transformed how communities engage in the planning system.

This latest round of funding (Round 4) will support 37 pilot projects across 49 LPA's that illustrate the advantages of utilising digital solutions in land assessment, enhancing existing methods for identifying and evaluating sites. This includes viability and feasibility assessments, analysing small sites, or land assembly projects.
