Haringey narrows shortlist for major Tottenham development
Haringey Council has narrowed its shortlist to three bidders as it looks to identify a long-term partner for the major £1 billion High Road West development in Tottenham.
The shortlisted companies are Barratt Developments Plc; Lendlease Development Limited and Linkcity (Bouygues). A final decision on the partner for this development will be announced by mid 2017.
Located just 15 minutes from central London and adjacent to the new £900m Tottenham Hotspur stadium development, the 11 hectare ‘High Road West’ scheme in North Tottenham will deliver a minimum of 1,400 new homes, community facilities including a new Library and Learning Centre, a new public square and community park, as well creating a new local centre with shops, restaurants, cafes and commercial and business space.
The High Road West scheme will be delivered alongside the Northumberland Park Estate Regeneration scheme, which will be taken forward by the Haringey Development Vehicle once established. These two major regeneration schemes, coupled with the Tottenham Hotspur Football Club stadium development will deliver billions of public and private investment in North Tottenham transforming the area with over 5,000 new homes and 4,000 new jobs.
Cllr Alan Strickland, Haringey Council Cabinet Member for Housing, Regeneration and Planning said:
"Tottenham is a major regeneration priority for the borough and this ambitious scheme has developed following three years of consultation with the local community. With the support of residents this scheme will deliver much needed new jobs, homes and community facilities, helping us achieve our wider ambitions for supporting growth in Tottenham and creating a new leisure destination for London. We look forward to making a final decision on our partner in the coming months."
The importance of the High Road West scheme has been recognised by the Mayor of London, who has contributed £62m of funding to support it as part of the regeneration of North Tottenham. This growth and investment is on top of the investment already happening in South Tottenham, which includes:
- The redevelopment of Tottenham Hale which represents the first phase of London’s largest Housing Zone in Tottenham and will deliver around 800 homes (including market sale, build to rent and affordable), improved transport links, new shops, cafes and restaurants and community facilities including a health centre.
- The Ada National College for Digital Skills which opened in Tottenham Hale in September 2016 and will move to a new purpose built campus in 2018. The college aims to equip young people with the latest high-tech skills and qualifications so they can compete in the digital economy.

- Last year, an independent report found Haringey is set to enjoy the fastest jobs growth in London over next 20 years, ahead of Westminster and the City of London
- Advice on the High Road West project’s delivery is being provided by Bilfinger GVA, who is also advising and supporting Haringey Council throughout the OJEU Competitive Dialogue tender process.
The High Road West development will see all existing secure council tenants given a new home in the regeneration area which meets their housing need and has the same rent levels.
