Neighbourhood news at the touch of a button – Haringey launches alerts app
Haringey residents will be the first in the country to take advantage of the new Notiz neighbourhoods alerts mobile phone app, enabling them to keep up with local issues whilst on the go.
Would you like to know when a planning application has been lodged in your area? Get a heads up if road works are planned in or around your street? Be tipped off about an incident or major event happening nearby?
Downloading the app will mean you automatically receive a notification if there is a planning application, highways work or licensing application happening within a specific radius of where you live.
Haringey is the first council in the country to launch the app as part of a three-month Government pilot to test the new technology.
If the trial proves successful, the app could be expanded in the future to cover a range of other topics, including waste collection changes and community safety. It could even be used to let residents know if anybody has fly-tipped in their area – giving people the chance to let the council know if they spotted anything that could help identify the culprits.
Cllr Stuart McNamara, Haringey Council Cabinet Member for Environment, said:
“We’re keen to test this new technology as part of our commitment to keeping local residents involved and informed on the neighbourhood issues that matter most to them. This is a great chance for people to be easily kept in the loop on local issues.”
You can download the app by searching for “Haringey Council Notiz” on your mobile marketplace (Apple or Android).
