Online application forms with My Account
Accessing council services and support just got even easier with the introduction of online applications forms to My Account, the council’s online service.
Registered My Account users can now apply online for a range of support instead of needing to fill out and return handwritten paper forms. Online forms are available for council tax enquiries, student exemptions, benefits enquiries, providing evidence for a claim, discretionary housing payments, and free school meals/clothing grants. The new forms can be completed online, and on the go through a mobile device with an internet connection.
My Account was first launched in February 2016 and initially offered online access to council tax and housing benefit information for those with registered accounts. The service has since been updated and expanded, with residents now able to apply for a wider range of support and services, report environmental issues such as fly-tipping and even search and reserve items from or access the council’s entire library catalogue. To date, more than 54,000 residents have registered to get quick and easy access to council information and services.
Cabinet Member for Customer Services, Cllr Joseph Ejiofor said:
“We’re committed to making it as easy as possible for local residents to communicate with the council and to get access to the advice, information, support and services they need in a way that is convenient for them. My Account makes a host of services and info available at the click of a button, and the new online application forms give residents more options and control over how they manage their accounts.”
