This follows an extensive campaign by Haringey Council and ward councillors since the former Wood Green Post Office closed in March 2023, leaving locals having to travel to other locations to access services.
Services have now been restored at a new location in The Mall, Wood Green.
Opening hours will be: Monday - Saturday: 9am – 5.30pm, providing 51 hours of Post Office service a week.
The new premises have undergone a full refurbishment to incorporate a Post Office with cards, stationery, books, toys and gifts, alongside three Post Office counters.
Cllr Peray Ahmet, Leader of Haringey Council, and Cllr Ruth Gordon, Cabinet Member for Council House Building, Placemaking and Local Economy, said:
“It’s great to see that the Wood Green Post Office has re-opened. We know how important Post Offices are to our community, especially elderly residents, people who are digitally excluded and those who don’t use debit and credit cards.
“We were dismayed to see the former branch on the High Road close, and since then we have been campaigning alongside residents and ward councillors for services to be restored locally.
“We are relieved that Wood Green residents will no longer have to travel to access these vital services. At a time when post offices are becoming more and more scarce - roughly 206 post offices have closed in the last two years, two a week – this is a real win for the people of Wood Green.”
