Cllr Gina Adamou, Mayor of Haringey, has issued a statement expressing her sadness at the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II:
"It is with profound sadness that Haringey has learnt of the death of Her Majesty The Queen.
"We send our sincere condolences to the Royal Family and share their feeling of loss.
"As a mark of respect flags at George Meehan House, the Civic Centre, Tottenham Town Hall and Alexandra Palace will be flown at half mast.
"We recognise that this is a sad and poignant time in history and books of condolence will be opened at George Meehan House in Wood Green, Tottenham Town Hall, Bruce Castle Museum and all our borough Libraries from tomorrow.
"I have further cancelled my events for the coming 11 days and will alter my duties to represent and support the borough in my role as first citizen as it comes to terms with the loss of our long standing monarch.
"Detail of my revised programme of events will follow. This will include a proclamation ceremony in two days.
"The council will further endeavour to provide details of community focused events that will be taking place in the coming 11 days."
