Thames Water repairing sewer in Muswell Hill
As part of a wider plan to tackle the ongoing flooding residents and businesses are facing in the Hornsey area, Thames Water is undertaking works to repair its surface water sewer on Priory Road and Park Road in Muswell Hill, which has collapsed in two separate locations.
Cllr Seema Chandwani, Cabinet Member for Tackling Inequality and Resident Services, said:
It was upsetting meeting some of businesses on Priory and Park Road, and hearing about how the flooding has impacted them.
I am pleased that Thames Water is finally fixing its sewer and that we can then get on with our own improvement works.
I appreciate that the required traffic management restrictions will mean delays and disruption to some journeys, but it’s vitally important this work is done to protect homes and businesses in the area.
The works which started this week, are expected to last for four weeks. This is likely to cause delays, so we advise people to avoid the area if possible.
During this time, there will be extensive traffic management. Once complete, the council will then proceed with a range of further flooding defence measures to enhance protection for homes and businesses.
