Update on our Paddling Pools
Haringey’s paddling pools, based in parks across the borough, provide kids with hours of fun and the chance to cool down on hot summer days.
While our pools in Lordship Recreation Ground and Bruce Castle Park both got up and running earlier this month, due to a plumbing issue we were unable to open our pool at Priory Park for the start of the summer season as planned.
We have been urgently working to resolve this issue, and engineers have been on site to investigate the fault this week. Their investigations have revealed that the Victorian pipework that supplies water to the pool will have to be replaced in its entirety.
This work will begin on 7th July and will involve digging a trench across the park to lay new pipes. It is hoped that the works will be complete in time for the start of the summer holidays, when our paddling pools see their highest demand.
Cllr Julie Davies, Cabinet Member for Communities and Civic Life, said:
“We’re proud of Haringey’s wonderful green spaces and the enjoyment they bring to the whole community.
“While a plumbing issue meant we were unable to open our paddling pool in Priory Park as planned, we hope to have it up and running in time for the start of the summer holidays, when all three of our pools are scheduled to be open seven days a week.
“The investment we are making in replacing the Victorian pipework will safeguard this service for years to come.
“Once the summer is over, we look forward to exploring with park users how we can further modernise our parks and create new opportunities for water play for children.”
