Huge thanks to everyone who braved the heights to help raise over £19,000 - vital funds for local community projects, including Deputy Leader, Cllr Sarah Williams who was one of the first to take the plunge.
The abseil was a true celebration of community, bringing together Haringey staff including David Sherrington - Head of Estate Renewal, Jess Crowe - Corporate Director for Culture Strategy and Communities, Sara Sutton - Corporate Director for Adults, Health and Housing, community partners Active Change Haringey, project partners DCK Construction Ltd (who helped to organise the event) and residents for an unforgettable experience.
Participants of all ages took part, from a 19-year-old Northumberland Park resident to 78-year-old Ruth from Broadwater Farm’s community gardening project, Harmony Gardens.
Adding some extra fun were council officers Ione and Shelleyna, who spent the day sitting in baths of green, gloopy slime at the foot of the tower cheering on the brave abseilers and helping boost donations.
Local councillors came out in force to support the abseil, including Haringey’s Leader Cllr Peray Ahmet, Cllr Ajda Ovat, Cllr Emily Arkel, Cllr Ibrahim Ali and Cllr Sue Jameson.
The abseil completed two months of inspiring fundraising efforts, including running the Belfast Marathon, walking the South Coast Mighty Hike, a 25km historical river Thames bridges walk and a Summer Beats & Moves Exercise Fest. Together, these activities have raised an incredible £19,500 for local community projects.
Tottenham Hotspur has also added extra excitement with their donation of a club pendant and family stadium tour for a final online raffle – tickets are just £5 each.
