Haringey is investing £3.6m to improve the buildings and equipment across its leisure provision after inheriting a backlog of maintenance and repairs when Broadwater Farm Community Centre, Park Road Leisure Centre & Lido and Tottenham Green Leisure Centre were insourced in October 2024.

With this week marking the one-year anniversary since this service was brought back in-house, here’s what’s been accomplished and achieved across the four sites over the last 12 months.

At Park Road, covers have been installed on the ever-popular Lido to help conserve energy and make the site more sustainable.

These Lido covers, alongside the brand, new circulation pumps and pipework, will lead to a saving of over £35,000 in the running costs of the Lido, reduce the overall carbon emissions from its operation and make it more reliable.

The teaching pool has also been completely refurbished and renovated, with repair works done to fix a major leak and the soft play has been refurbished for our youngest residents.

At Tottenham Green, the health suite, sauna and soft play have all had repairs and upgrades.

And across the sites, we’ve fixed lockers and taps, repaired the lighting and the showers and redecorated the floors and the ceilings across the board. In total, we’ve made more than 160 repairs across the four sites this past year alone.

The feedback we’ve received has indicated residents have noticed a distinct upgrade in cleanliness and the quality of facilities.

Here’s what our Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, Cllr Emily Arkell, has to say on the improvement works taking place across the provision here in our borough.
