Haringey prepares for further easing of restrictions
A statement from the Prime Minister on Monday confirms the next stage of lockdown easing, in line with step 3 of the roadmap out of lockdown.
From Monday 17 May, the following easing of COVID-19 restrictions in England will come into effect:
- You can socialise indoors in a group of up to 6 people or 2 households, including for overnight stays.
- People in England will be allowed to hug loved ones and enjoy indoor hospitality.
- Up to 30 people can meet outside.
- Pubs, theatres, cinemas and other venues can open indoors.
- Hotels, hostels and B&Bs can open for people on holiday.
- A return to international travel is permitted but the rules for entering England (external site) are different depending on where you have travelled from outside the UK.
- People who live in England who have had a full vaccine course (2 doses), will be able to demonstrate their COVID-19 vaccination status (external link) for travel to countries where this is recognised.
- Pupils will no longer need to wear masks in secondary schools and colleges from next week.

The Government’s statement (external link) comes as the UK's COVID alert level was lowered from four to three, meaning coronavirus is in ‘general circulation’ but that transmission isn't ‘high or rising exponentially’.
