Boost your immunity against COVID-19 this autumn
The autumn COVID-19 booster campaign is under way in England, with care home residents, care home staff and housebound people getting the jab from this week.
The autumn booster programme will administer Moderna's new "bivalent" vaccine, which tackles both the original COVID-19 virus and the recent Omicron variant.
The booster dose will be offered to:
- adults aged 50 and over
- people aged five to 49 with health conditions which put them at higher risk - including pregnant women
- care home staff
- frontline health and social care workers
- carers aged 16 to 49
- household contacts of people with weakened immune systems
- Originally only healthy people aged over 65 were due to be offered an extra booster, but the programme was expanded in response to the spread of Omicron.
Anyone aged 16 or over or at-risk children aged 12 to 15, who have had both of their primary jabs, can also have their first booster.
