Leader statement - Turnpike Lane incident
Cllr Peray Ahmet, Leader of Haringey Council, said:
“I was saddened to hear of the tragic death of a young man in Turnpike Lane and my thoughts are with his family and friends.
“I understand that our community will feel anxious following the events that unfolded in the early hours of this morning, but rest assured we are working continuously with the police. I have spoken with the Borough Commander to ensure there are increased patrols on our streets and over the Bank Holiday weekend to keep our community safe.
“I would urge any of our residents who may have any information surrounding this incident to contact the police by calling 101 or 999 or report it anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
“As the new Leader of Haringey Council, I am determined to play my part in reducing serious youth violence in the borough and together we can all play our part in helping to make Haringey a safer place for everyone.”
