Mental Health Awareness Week 2024
Mental Health Awareness Week 2024 is taking place from May 13-19, on the theme of “Movement: Moving more for our mental health”.
It is an alarming fact that one in six people, report experiencing symptoms of common mental health problems, like anxiety and depression, in any given week in England.
Here in Haringey, we recognise the importance of raising awareness around this issue and we want to help people find moments for movement in their daily routines as this is so important for our mental health.
Going for a walk in your neighbourhood, putting on your favourite music and dancing around the living room, chair exercises when you’re watching television – it all counts!
Councillor Lucia das Neves, Cabinet Member for Health, Social Care & Wellbeing, and Councillor Mike Hakata, Cabinet Member for Climate Action, Environment & Transport, joined one of our local wellbeing walks and urge residents to take advantage of our local green spaces to improve their mental health. Watch it here.
Councillor Lucia das Neves, Cabinet Member for Health, Social Care, and Wellbeing said “We want to support good mental health across the borough in every way we can. Our Wellbeing Walks are a great way to stretch your legs, get out into our wonderful green spaces, and connect with your community. We have a number of programmes in place in Haringey to support people who want to support their own mental health and keep well, and you should never be afraid to ask for help or support.”
- We have a full Mental Health Support Hub where you can access a wealth of knowledge to support you in staying mentally healthy. The resources, tools and mobile apps include information on mental health conditions, symptoms, therapies and where to go if you need further support. https://www.haringey.gov.uk/social-care-and-health/health/public-health/mental-health-and-wellbeing/great-mental-health-haringey/mental-health-resource-hub
