Overnight incidents of localised flooding
Cllr Seema Chandwani, Cabinet Member for Tackling Inequality and Resident Services, said:
Today I joined Cllrs Jogee and Williams meeting with businesses and residents affected by the flooding last night to see how we can help.
It was heart-breaking meeting so many people who have been affected by the unprecedented levels of rain hitting London.
We are doing all we can to ensure our gullies are cleaned, invest in Sustainable Drain Systems (SuDs) across the borough and working with Thames Water to address much-needed maintenance of their drain system.
The government need to take seriously the emerging threat climate change is having on our city. They need an urgent strategy to ensure our borough and our city is best equipped to defend itself.
Tonight, our teams will again be working through the night to help businesses with emergency measures.
