Share your ideas on how to make Haringey safer
Haringey residents and businesses are being called to have their say on how to make the borough safer, as a new consultation opens on the council’s Community Safety and Hate Crime strategies.
Haringey Council has made it a priority to work with residents to improve safety across the borough, and this is a prime example of this approach in action.
The Community Safety strategy will shape the work of the Haringey Community Safety Partnership, which is chaired by the council alongside the police with other bodies who attend, all working to make the borough safer. The strategy sets out the partnership’s approach and priorities to improving the safety of our residents, business and visitors to support a reduction in crime and anti-social behaviour in the borough.
The Hate Crime strategy outlines the ways the council responds to and works to prevent hate crime affecting our diverse communities
Both strategies will run for a period of three years from 2023-26.
The consultation is open until 22 August 2023. Residents and businesses in Haringey can share their ideas by filling in a survey, or by visiting one of our in-person drop-in sessions at locations across the borough.
The survey can be filled in online or via paper copies which are available in Haringey libraries or by request to the community safety team consultation@haringey.gov.uk.
Cllr Adam Jogee, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Cohesion, said:
“We know that crime and community safety are top priorities for our residents, and as a council we are committed to making sure that everyone, regardless of their background, their circumstances or where they live, can feel safe, secure and confident in every corner of our borough.
“From our priorities for addressing safety on our streets to the ways we work together with the police and other partners, our Community Safety and Hate Crime strategies are key to delivering this, and we need all of our diverse communities to be involved in shaping them.
“I call on all residents and businesses to get involved and have their say in the consultation, so that together we can make sure Haringey is the best place to live, learn and work.”
