Update: Tottenham Green Pools and Fitness
Significant steps are being taken towards the reopening of the pools at Tottenham Green as works are set to get underway on replacing the high voltage electrical system.
Electrical installation works will take place on site in the week commencing Monday 20 November.
Unfortunately, this will require the closure of the whole Tottenham Green complex, including Marcus Garvey Library and Customer Service centre as well as the gyms, fitness studios and nursery, for 3 days starting Monday 20 November, with these services reopening on Thursday 23 November.
Once electrical works are completed, focus will move to the next stage of the process, including pump maintenance, pool cleaning, filter cleaning and lighting inspections. Cleaning operations are already underway at the site.
Barring any unforeseen complications, this should see both the teaching and main pools reopen to the public in early 2024.
A Haringey Council spokesperson said:
“We are delighted to be able to share the news that we are taking a big step forward in our mission to reopen the pools at Tottenham Green.
“We know how important our leisure centres are to residents in Haringey, and we understand the frustration that this prolonged closure has caused. The process of replacing the high voltage electrical system at the site has been extremely complex, but we are now in a position to move forward with these works.
“Unfortunately this will require a short closure to some of the other services at Tottenham Green, but with these works complete we should be on course to finally reopen the pools early next year.
“We will continue to keep residents updated every step of the way.”
