Anti-Racism Day
UN Anti-Racism Day is 20 March, a day when people across the planet will pledge to do more to rid their communities of the scourges of racism and discrimination.
There’s nothing new about racism or race hatred. However, over the past year we’ve seen an awakening around the world, as more people have become aware of existing racism in their societies and institutions, we’ve had more open discussions about racism and people have come out in great numbers to demonstrate clearly their wish to see racism confronted and eradicated.
Throughout last year, the Black Lives Matter movement swept the globe, with millions of people in many nations pouring into the streets to show their opposition to racist discrimination.
Since the advent of the coronavirus pandemic, several countries have seen a worrying rise in racist insults and attacks on people of east and south east Asian descent.
Haringey denounces racism, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and continues to advocate for fairer treatment for migrants and refugees. We stand firmly against racism and in discrimination in all its forms.
