Fostering Information and Q&A – online session

A Teams meeting taking place with lots of people - showing on a laptop next to a coffee cup on a table in a home environment

If you're interested in fostering yet have many questions on the topic, put the kettle on and chat to a representative from our fostering service in the comfort of your home...by joining one of our 'Fostering Information and Q&A' online sessions.

They provide the ideal opportunity to hear what we have to say and allow you to discuss anything you may want to!

You can book onto the next session, via the link below.

Joint Quiz Event - coming soon!...

We are joining forces with Islington Council to host a joint quiz event called Better Together, asking questions on the topic of fostering – and the winner will receive a £50 gift voucher.

The event is for people interested in becoming Emergency Carers or who want to provide Supported Lodgings. Both Haringey and Islington need these types of carers and are looking to recruit. Afternoon tea will be provided (including pastries) and we would like to outline that it will be a fun, family-friendly event.

  • Date: Saturday 11 May
  • Time: 2pm to 5pm
  • Location: Marie Heywood Roof Garden Room, Brickworks, Crouch Hill Community Centre, 42 Crouch Hill, Finsbury Park, London, N4 4BY.

What are 'emergency care' foster carers?

This refers to foster carers who agree to accept a child out-of-hours or to be on the emergency rota to take children at short notice. This would be in the evenings, weekends, bank holidays and public holidays. Foster carers who agree to be on this rota are paid an additional £100 extra per week. In addition, foster carers will receive a further £100 when an emergency placement is made.

What are 'supported lodgings' foster carers?

All supported lodgings hosts, providing a home for 16 to 21-year-olds, receive weekly payments of £229.40, of which £159.34 is rent, usually from Housing Benefit, or a university loan. Personal allowances for young people will come from Independent Futures or the Benefits Agency and young people will be expected to contribute to food and utility bills.
