The birds flying on the side of the building were inspired by the famous book written by Maya Angelou ‘I know why the caged bird sings’.  The mural at the front of the centre is of Maya Angelou.

In consultation with our service users, the children and families who visit our centre, as well as our local community, collectively we chose to celebrate the building being named after her, by having this picture of Maya painted onto the building.

Here is our vibrant and welcoming reception area.  As you enter our building you will walk into a forest which we hope will encourage you to feel a sense of relaxation and calm.

Also in our reception area you will see our autumn tree.  Many of our children and families are at a stage in their lives where they are experiencing change or transition, and our autumn tree is symbolic of this.  The autumn tree is a symbol of changing seasons, positivity and hope for a good tomorrow.

This is a typical layout for our supervised contact rooms.  Each room comes fully equipped with comfortable sofas, a craft table and chairs and a selection of toys for children to enjoy with their families.

Our rooms are all bright and colourful, with excellent ventilation and lighting.

We have 8 rooms of all different sizes to accommodate both large and small families.  Some of our rooms have more equipment suitable for older children and other rooms are better suited to younger children.

At the centre we have a modern and fully functioning kitchen.  This is available to be used by all families and children during your time spent together.

You are welcome to prepare meals or snacks together, or alternatively bring food already cooked from your home to heat up and enjoy together at the dining table.
