Induction support
National Professional Qualification (NPQ) for SENDCOs
All mainstream schools (including academies and free schools) must have a SENDCO. The SENDCO must be a qualified teacher, or the headteacher, working at the school.
The SEND Regulations 2014 have been amended and the NPQ is now the mandatory SENDCO qualification. The 3-year window to complete the mandatory qualification after taking up a SENDCO post will remain. SENDCOs meet their statutory requirement on receiving the outcome of their NPQ. Participants should allow up to 4 months on top of the 18 months of study to receive their outcome
Haringey Education Partnership is a delivery partner for University College London and offers the NPQ for SENDCOs.

New to Haringey SENDCO Sessions
We run live sessions every autumn term for SENDCOs who are new to Haringey. These sessions cover local processes and key information.
The sessions will be recorded and available to view for SENDCOs who cannot attend the live sessions.

Shadow an experienced SENDCO
All new SENDCOs are offered a half-day shadowing session with an experienced Haringey SENDCO in their school.
