New SENDCO's

New SEND Co-ordinators or those new to Haringey have a variety of support resources available. Below is an overview of key resources and contacts to help you get started.

Induction support

All new SENDCOs are offered a one-to-one induction meeting with their SENDCO Support Partner in the first term of being in role. Your SENDCO support partner is an experienced local SENDCO who runs your local cluster meeting. The agenda will be driven by you and agreed with your support partner

Core standards training

This one-day course is designed for new SENDCOs and will cover the essential Core Standards. You'll receive an overview of the key information needed to be a SENDCO in Haringey and practical advice from experienced SENDCOs. The course also provides an opportunity to network with other new SENDCOs.

National Professional Qualifications (NPQs)

The new NPQ for SENCO will launch in November 2024. From September 2024, this new NPQ will be the statutory required qualification for SENCOs. It’s an 18-22-month course delivered using a blend of online and face-to-face training sessions, small group coaching, and self-study materials.
