How to get help from Prevent

Part of: Haringey Prevent

If you're worried someone might be at risk of being radicalised, you can make a referral. The person will be assessed and offered support if they're at risk.

Terrorist groups may try to recruit susceptible people, either in person or online. If we recognise the early signs and take action, it helps protect the person involved and keeps everyone in Haringey safe.

Prevent referrals are about safeguarding people – they do not go on someone's criminal record.

Report concerns

If you feel an individual is at risk of radicalisation, the most suitable support can be put in place once the concern is identified and referred.

Make a Prevent referral

Use the Prevent national referral form to make a referral.

Ensure you fill out the referral form with enough context and detail that the concern can be clearly identified.

Send the referral form to preventreferrals@met.pnn.police.uk and cc in prevent@haringey.gov.uk.

Anyone can make a referral. Professionals should speak with their safeguarding lead as well.

Visit Making a referral to Prevent at GOV.UK for further advice.

Make a MASH referral

If your concern relates to a child, young person or family, make a referral to both:

  • the Prevent team
  • the multi-agency safeguarding hub (MASH) team

Contact MASH to make a referral.

You can also make a MASH referral using an online form.
