Hurricane Melissa

Information, support and donation links for those affected by the hurricane in Jamaica.

We know many areas remain severely impacted by Hurricane Melissa, particularly those that were in the eye of the storm. Roads are blocked by flooding and debris, and some families and friends have not been heard from due to power outages and limited communication.

The Jamaican Government has confirmed that lives have been lost. Our deepest condolences and sympathy go out to the families and friends of those who have passed.

Support

To stay up to date, please visit the Jamaica High Commission website.

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) has launched the Support Jamaica website. This dedicated online platform, developed by the Government of Jamaica, helps mobilise assistance, coordinate relief, and streamline recovery efforts.

The Jamaican Government has also published a list of shelters by parish, which may help you locate safe places where family members might be.

If you wish to donate, please only use websites ending with .gov.jm to avoid scams. The official Support Jamaica site was developed and donated by the Amber Group in consultation with the Government of Jamaica and has been thoroughly security tested to ensure your protection.

The Jamaica High Commission has also established UK drop-off points for physical donations (PDF, 4 pages, 4.1MB). In the Southeast, these are located in Croydon, Rainham (Essex), and Wembley.
