Knife surrender bins are located across Haringey, offering a safe and secure way to dispose of knives and other weapons.
These bins are designed for anyone who wishes to safely give up a knife, blade, or dangerous tool—whether it's someone carrying a weapon or a concerned parent or carer. Disposing of a weapon could prevent harm and potentially save lives.
In 2024, a total of 681 knife crime offences were recorded in Haringey—a 2% reduction compared to 2023.
This progress reflects the Haringey Community Safety Partnership’s commitment to safety and crime prevention.
The Haringey Community Safety Partnership is dedicated to removing weapons from our streets. We currently have four knife surrender bins installed across the borough.
What Do the Surrender Bins Look Like?
The image below shows the front and side of a knife surrender bin. These bins are designed to be secure, tamper-proof, and easily accessible.

How to Safely Dispose of a Knife in a Surrender Bin
Avoid touching the sharp edge of the blade.
Wrap the knife securely in cardboard (e.g., a cereal box) and seal it with strong tape (e.g., duct or parcel tape).
Place the wrapped knife carefully into the bin through the slot marked by two yellow arrows.
Who Maintains the Bins?
Haringey Community Safety Partnership works with Word4Weapons, a weapons surrender charity that ensures they are regularly emptied and kept secure.
