Do you know a Haringey Hero?

To mark the 60th anniversary of the creation of Haringey as a London Borough in 1965, we are celebrating the incredible contribution made to life locally by:

  • residents
  • community groups
  • voluntary organisations
  • businesses

Do you know a person or organisation that makes a positive contribution in our community? It could be a volunteer, a local business, a community organisation, a residents’ group, or a person who just makes a real difference.

If so, we would like you to nominate them as a Haringey Hero!

This year we have a list of categories so that we can recognise the full range of Haringey Heroes.

We also have 2 special awards to recognise the contributions that have been made to life in Haringey throughout the last 60 years.

Cllr Sue Jameson, Mayor of Haringey 2024-25, said:

Cllr Sue Jameson, Mayor of Haringey 2024-25

It is the people that make Haringey special and so it is with great pleasure that I am launching the search for Haringey’s Heroes for 2025. This is especially important as we mark our 60th anniversary as a London borough.

It is also 5 years since the Covid pandemic began and despite all the grief, worry and isolation that many of us experienced during that time, the thing that gave us strength were our families, neighbours and communities – those people that just went above and beyond to look after each other. But I know that spirit didn’t only exist in Haringey during Covid. It was here before and it remains since.

So please nominate your Heroes so that more people can hear about the great work they do – whether they are residents, people who work here, businesses or community groups.

I am particularly excited to read the nominations for the Haringey at 60 Lifetime and Business Contribution awards.

Nominations close on Sunday 6 April so get cracking!

  2. Volunteer of the Year
This award is for an individual who makes a significant contribution to Haringey via voluntary activity.

Whilst all awards are open to our younger residents this award recognises the specific contribution of a younger resident (under 25) to life in Haringey.

  4. Culture and Creative Hero of the Year
This award is for an individual who contributes to the cultural life of the borough via their creative activities.

For this award, judges will be looking for a business that may focus on social justice and tackling inequality, put on charity or social events that bring benefits to the community, support local people through training and apprenticeship opportunities, or has helped people struggling and stepped up to support the community through difficult times.

  13. Emerging Business of the Year
