The Mayor of Haringey is delighted to announce the launch of the Haringey Heroes Awards 2026.

Do you know a Haringey Hero?

The annual Haringey Heroes awards celebrate the incredible contribution made to life locally by residents, community groups, voluntary organisations and businesses.

The Haringey Heroes Awards are back for 2026, and we are celebrating the incredible contribution made to life locally by:

  • residents
  • community groups
  • voluntary organisations
  • businesses

Do you know a person or organisation that makes a positive contribution in our community? It could be a volunteer, a local business, a community organisation, a residents’ group, or a person who just makes a real difference.

If so, we would like you to nominate them as a Haringey Hero!

This year we have a list of categories so that we can recognise the full range of Haringey Heroes.

Cllr Ahmed Mahbub, Mayor of Haringey 2025-26, said:

“The Haringey Heroes awards are a celebration of the incredible people and businesses that make our borough such a special place. At a time when many residents are facing real challenges and our local services are under unprecedented pressure, the efforts of those who go the extra mile matter more than ever.

The best thing about these awards is that every one of our heroes is nominated by the people who know best what a difference they make to our communities: Haringey’s residents. By putting their names forward, you’ll help us to highlight the acts of kindness, dedication and creativity that make Haringey a better place for everyone.

This year I’m pleased to see our awards shining a special light on our hospitality industry, which plays such a vital role in our local economy. From local cafes to globally acclaimed restaurants and bars, our borough boasts some of the finest establishments in London, and I’m looking forward to seeing all the hidden gems put forward by the community.”

Creative Industry Business of the Year

This award seeks to recognise a business which is part of our growing culture and creative economy in Haringey.  For this award, a business may be in any creative or cultural sector and have used their talent and creativity to create a brand or business that contributes to making the borough a vibrant and exciting place to live, work and visit.

Emerging Business of the Year

This award will be given to one of Haringey’s many new or emerging businesses.  We know that starting a new business can be challenging so we want to celebrate a business that has been taking its first exciting steps over the last year or so.

Hospitality Business of the Year

This award is for any hospitality business based in the borough that supports our local economy by making it a thriving and vibrant destination for our residents and visitors. Whether it is a pub, club, restaurant, or café, it will be a business that puts Haringey on the map, contributes to our exciting economy and celebrates our rich history of being an international destination for cuisine, culture and entertainment.

The Mayor’s Hero for 2026

This award will go to an individual or organisation that the Mayor believes deserves special recognition for their contribution to the borough this year. Nominations can be made directly for this award but the Mayor will also consider all the nominees within the other categories.
