2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, and to celebrate, the Holocaust Memorial Trust have engaged communities and organisations from across the UK to take part in a special nationwide arts and education project – 80 Candles for 80 Years.

Eighty bespoke candleholders that highlight the life of an individual or a community persecuted by the Nazis have been designed and created by those communities and organisations to form a digital exhibition.

Haringey Libraries are one of the organisations chosen to contribute to the 80 Candles for 80 Years exhibition, and have created a candleholder based on the life-story of Naomi Blake, who lived locally in Haringey and went on to become an internationally exhibited sculptor.

The candleholder made by Haringey Libraries is now on display in Hornsey Library.

The candle holder will be able to be viewed during Hornsey Library opening hours.
