
Echoes of Windrush is a vibrant, intergenerational afternoon celebrating the legacy and cultural impact of the Windrush Generation within Haringey through fashion, music, storytelling, and dance over a Caribbean -style afternoon tea setting.
This event invites attendees to connect, reflect, and celebrate shared heritage.
Participants are encouraged to:
- Take part in an open mic session and have conversations over food by: Sharing a personal or family garment or photo connected to their or their family’s migration (e.g. church hats, carnival costumes, first UK winter coat) and share the story behind it. Or sharing a song, short story, poem, or memory that holds meaning for them.
- People can also come to just listen, dance, connect, and celebrate community, culture, and heritage across generations.
The event will also feature:
- A spoken word artist sharing a personal migration story
- Interactive Caribbean dance session
- A delicious Caribbean tea party menu
Accessibility measures include:
- Step-free access via church ramp
- Quiet zone for rest and sensory needs
