Markfield Beam Engine Museum tells a fascinating public health story.
Featuring a Victorian steam engine this family-friendly museum is a great way to inspire young engineers! We have free kids activities and guided tours.
Our beautiful 1888 beam engine was part of a sewage treatment works that saved thousands of lives in Tottenham. Our museum celebrates the development of sanitation, an important but often overlooked part of history. The engine itself is a masterpiece of Victorian engineering that is still fully functional today.
