Rent first
Because everything starts with home
With the festive period fast approaching, some people may feel the pressure to spend over their budget. From buying expensive gifts, through to decorations and food - we understand you want to spoil your loved ones which can be quite overwhelming and often cause a financial strain. However, the best gift of all is ensuring you and your family have a safe home to live in.
It is possible to have a great festive break without overspending but it involves a bit of planning and setting some ground rules for you and your family.
Here are some ideas to help you stay within your budget:
- Try discount supermarkets
Swapping to a discount supermarket to do your Christmas food shop will help you save money - Only buy the food you need
Trimming down on excess food you may not use or need will help to trim down your spending. Consider having a chicken or turkey crown instead of a whole turkey. It’s also worth thinking about buying food that you can transform into lovely leftovers if you have any - Plan fun activities
Making the Festive period fun takes the pressure off you. This can be as simple as arranging fun activities like walks and family board or outdoor games
