Housing and estate services over Christmas
See our holiday service pages for information on housing and estate services opening times over the Christmas and New Year period.
Getting permission for electrical installations and registering electrical equipment.
You have to get permission before carrying out any works to the electrical installations in your home. Your estate office will need confirmation that any electrical works are carried out by a competent person.
Any company, or person carrying out works on the electrical installation should be registered with the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC).
For more information on electrical safety in domestic households go to the NICEIC website.
Looking after electrical equipment is vital. Just because something works does not mean it is safe.
Make sure you have safe electrical appliances in your home by registering your appliances as soon as you buy them.
Go to Register My Appliance to register your products and find out about recalls and safety repairs from the manufacturer.
