Haringey celebrates Windrush Day on 22 June each year, with events held on and around this date across the borough – highlighting the significant contribution the Windrush Generation and their descendants have made, and continue to make, to our borough and British life beyond.
This year’s programme includes a wide range of activities for all ages taking place across the borough. Highlights include:
- Blockorama Steel Pan Festival bringing Caribbean music, food and drinks to Lordship Rec.
- A walking tour exploring over four centuries of Tottenham’s black history.
- A Windrush Legacy Celebration at the Engine Room, featuring art, artefacts, spoken word, dance, music, fine Caribbean canapés and drinks.
- An intergenerational beauty and bonding experience focusing on the strengths of identity and wisdom.
- Montserrat Festival, showcasing the best of Montserrat all in one place: Chestnuts Park.
- The launch of a new arts project in Haringey schools and community settings celebrating the Windrush generation and their legacy.
