Holocaust Memorial Day

Each year, communities across the UK and around the world come together to mark Holocaust Memorial Day and remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of other people killed under Nazi persecution of other groups and during more recent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

This annual commemoration takes place on 27 January, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in 1945. 2025 marks the 80th Anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, and the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Bosnia.

Holocaust Memorial Day provides all of us with an opportunity to learn about the past, as well as a reminder to stay vigilant to the dangers of hatred and division that still exist around us.

The 2025 special event will take place on 27 January at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Communities in Haringey will come together to remember the millions of people murdered during the Holocaust and other genocides. This multi-faith event will see school children, residents, genocide survivors, faith leaders and community representatives come together for readings and reflections on the National theme; a Better Future.
