Our approach
Haringey is on a journey to embed culture and creativity across the council and weave it through everything it does.
We have recently adopted a new Culture Strategy, following a process that has included deep and considered community consultation with schools and youth groups, 23 cultural groups, friends of library groups, the Haringey VCS Forum, community and culture networks. We established a Culture Strategy Working Group and hosted a Culture Summit with over 60 attendees from arts and community groups, also running an open, online cultural survey for Haringey residents.
In November 2023, we delivered the Haringey Feast at Alexandra Palace, supported by the Mayor of London’s Cultural Impact Award, bringing together over 2000 creatives, residents and cultural organisations for a spectacular free event. This work improved our understanding of how we might collaborate across our borough’s creative sector to bring together the entirety of the borough for a year of culture.
All of this has shaped our thinking and approach and we are continuing to map out what we need to do next, talk to many more people and listen to and connect many more stories and ideas as we head towards 2027.
