This corner of Tottenham High Road is symbolic for so many reasons, not least for the imposingly beautiful architecture of the Co-operative building.

Near this site once stood a row of 17th century almshouses, later replaced by one of the High Road’s most iconic shopping destinations.

A landmark on the High Road that’s always bustling with vendors, customers and passers by; the history of Holcombe Market stretches back over a century.

Many residents still remember this iconic building, now called The Trampery, by its original name – The Tottenham & District Gas Company.

A master violin maker (father) and an award-winning photographer (son) once worked here. Their lives tell an extraordinary story of world-class craftmanship, evocative photographs of Tottenham and a secret that went to the grave.

From brewers, to bakers, to religious houses – this pocket of land is a glimpse into the diversity of Tottenham’s past and present.

Thanks to local regeneration projects, the historic features on this stretch of the High Road have been restored to their former glory!

Named after the Edwardian department store that once stood here, since the 1970s Ward’s Corner has been a vital social and cultural hub for Tottenham’s Latin American communities.

This street has witnessed many important innovators who, rooted in their communities, led the way and succeeded in building some of the most successful black enterprises in this country.
