Bluebell Wood

An area of ancient woodland, popular with dog walkers.

Get involved

The wood has a volunteer group called a Friends group.

To find out more about the group and get involved, see our list of Friends of Parks groups.

Nature

Most of the trees are sessile oaks.

Despite its name, you won’t find any native bluebells in the wood. You can sometimes see an occasional Spanish hybrid bluebell that has spread from neighbouring gardens.

History

Bluebell wood is the last piece of what was a much larger woodland called Tottenham Wood.

In 1619, Tottenham wood covered 157 hectares.
