Haringey Council are thrilled to announce that Director of Adults, Health and Communities, Beverley Tarka, has today taken over as the new President of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Care (ADASS), representing social care leaders across the country.
Beverley says her lived and professional experiences in the borough, where she has worked in different roles within the sector at the local authority prior to her current status as a Director, will help shape her forthcoming presidency.
There will also be a focus in shining a spotlight on the dedicated team of unpaid carers providing vital care and support to older and disabled people.
Beverley said:
I feel very honoured to be taking on the role of president of ADASS and also very humbled by it.
'Made In Haringey’ was a career talk that I gave some years ago here at the council and I’ve lived and worked in Haringey in the field of social care for the past 30 years and I think it’s important that - as someone who lives and works in Haringey - I’ve been elected to represent the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services nationally. It puts Haringey on the map.
I think it’s testament to my long career in social care and I very much look forward to the forthcoming year, where I will be in a position to not only be the voice for social care nationally; focus on articulating what social care is and how we see the future for social care, but also equally important to me is how we work as an organisation in terms of meeting the outcomes for the people and the communities that we serve.
All of us here at Haringey Council would like to wish Beverley well in her new role at ADASS.
