Kerswell Close shortlisted for award

An exciting new housing development which is due to complete in 2025, has been shortlisted for the Housing Design Awards 2023.

Kerswell Close which is housed across two buildings will feature nine one-bedroom flats, 12 two-bedroom flats, three three-bedroom flats and one four-bedroom flat with the latter two including one accessible household.

The new development contributes to the council’s ambitious housebuilding programme which aims to deliver 3000 new council homes by 2031. With 12,500 people on our housing waiting list, Kerswell Close will offer these residents a high quality, safe and affordable place to stay.

Providing a range of facilities as well as communal areas for both new and existing residents was central to the design of the build. A shared courtyard incorporating a landscaped garden, lawn and outdoor seating will encourage a range of social and community activities, including play, and passive recreation. In addition to this, an Adult Care Hub will be formed to support elderly and vulnerable tenants in the wider area.

With the climate emergency becoming more apparent and our vision to become net-zero carbon by 2027, the car-free development will have high levels of insulation, efficient heating systems and will incorporate solar panels and green roofs that will help keep running costs low and avoid overheating. Materials and resources will responsibly sourced and will have a near net carbon zero footprint incorporating energy efficient air source heat pumps, solar panels, cycle storage and green roofs.

New homes are being built in every part of Haringey and those in the greatest needed will have priority of them.
