Week of Action to focus on Muswell Hill

The latest in our series of Weeks of Action is set to get underway on Monday in Muswell Hill, where crime and antisocial behaviour are among the key issues to be addressed by Haringey Council.

The Week of Action will take place from 15-21 May, and will focus in and around Muswell Hill town centre.

Activities will include joint patrols by the police and the council’s antisocial behaviour and waste enforcement teams, youth engagement sessions from Haringey Community Gold, community engagement work from the council’s hate crime prevention team, and inspections by the council’s Parking Enforcement, Planning Enforcement, Trading Standards, Environmental Health and Private Sector Housing teams.

There will be a hub based outside Planet Organic on Muswell Hill Road each weekday from 1– 3pm for residents to discuss any issues or concerns they have with council staff.

Haringey Council plans to coordinate one Week of Action per month, each one targeting a different area of the borough. Previous weeks of action have taken place in Bruce Grove, Wood Green, Crouch End and Tottenham Hale.

Cllr Adam Jogee, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Cohesion, said:

“Haringey is committed to working together with our residents to make sure that the Borough is a great place to live, learn and work, and that all our communities feel safe and a sense of pride in their local areas.

“Our weeks of action initiative is an important part of that, and I’m delighted that this month we are focusing on Muswell Hill. Our previous weeks of action have shown what a great opportunity this is for us to meet and engage with residents – so I call on everyone in Muswell Hill to come and join us at the hub to talk about your concerns and how we can work together to solve local issues.”
