We held an information day about supported internships for young people with a learning disability and an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) at River Park House in Wood Green on Tuesday afternoon (20 June 2023).
Among the speakers was Qasim, who works with us here at the council having initially benefited from a supported internship himself.
He encouraged those in attendance to do a supported internship themselves too as they help:
- Build your confidence
- Improve your employability skills
- Develop independence
- Reach your targets and goals
- Avail other opportunities
During his presentation, Qasim said:
Everyone is different and unique in their own way. What may work for one person, may not work for someone else. However, your job coach supports you on your journey to employment.
