The former Ashley Road Depot site in the heart of Tottenham Hale is set to be transformed into 272 new council homes – benefiting hundreds of families in Haringey.
Throughout the planning and construction of the new homes, the council have held regular community engagement events to ensure local residents are aware of the progress being made. This is also an opportunity for individuals to ask any questions as well as meet the fantastic team delivering the scheme.
The next meeting will be held on Saturday 19th August 2023, from 11am to 1.30pm at the Living Under One Sun Community Cafe and Hub, located in Down Lane Park.
Haringey currently has 41 council housing projects under way across the borough – all of which are part of their ambitious programme to build 3,000 new council homes by 2031.
With a remarkable £10 million investment into Down Lane Park from Park View Road, the new scheme will provide residents with extensive new green landscaping - including 74 new trees as well as flowering species planted throughout the site. This will provide additional habitat for existing wildlife in the park. In addition to this, two new communal courtyards and a residential podium will be incorporated.
Sustainability is key to our house-building programme and therefore each of the buildings will include green roofs, rainwater harvesting as well as 512 cycle storage spaces - encouraging residents to adopt active travel choices. They will have high levels of insulation and incorporate other features such as solar roof panels that will help keep running costs low for residents.
