Eleven homes at Hornsey Town Hall took the total to 707 with the council’s aim to deliver 3,000 homes by 2031.  More than 2,000 are already underway or completed.

The award-winning programme has seen a number of flagship projects completed across the borough last year, including Walter Tull House in Tottenham Hale delivering 131 homes at council rent and Nilgun Canver Court in Wood Green providing 80 homes.

Cllr Sarah Williams, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning, said:

Reaching the 700 mark as part of our commitment to provide a new generation of affordable, high quality council homes is a significant milestone.

A council home offers stability, safety and the chance to put down real roots in the community, so I’m really pleased we remain on track to deliver 3,000 by 2031.

We have already started building 2,000 high quality affordable new homes.  We are extremely proud of our housebuilding programme, and the way it is truly transforming the lives of Haringey residents.

Sustainability is central to the design of the schemes which use high levels of insulation and energy renewal measures such as solar panels to keep running costs low.

Each new development is built to high standards and, where possible, seeks to deliver enhanced green spaces and biodiversity improvements that benefit the whole community.

A key part of the council’s approach is a bespoke programme with one in five homes wheelchair accessible and/or adaptable and an expert team co-designing individual homes to meet the needs of those with complex disabilities.
