We fully understand and share the concerns of the community over the incidents that have occurred in Downhills Park.
We want to reassure residents we have been doing everything in our power to stop this disgusting and irresponsible behaviour and bring the perpetrator to justice. This included our own additional security measures such as the installation of a camera as well as increased police patrols.
When an incident occurred, our staff immediately taped the area off and a specialist biohazard team thoroughly cleaned and sanitised the equipment, so it is safe to use.
We can now confirm a man has been arrested in connection with the incidents and released on bail, pending further inquiries. We will support the police investigation and provide them with any evidence we can.
I understand the local community have played a key role in safeguarding this play space for the Haringey children and families that benefit from it, and I’d like to sincerely thank them for everything they have done. I have and will continue to visit the park and talk with local residents to address any concerns they have.
We are proud of our parks and green, open spaces. We’re determined to maintain them to the highest possible standards and the public health, safety and welfare of our park users remains very important to us.
