With a £937,710 boost from the government, thousands of children will enjoy a variety of free holiday camp places, family days out with their loved ones, and access to free, healthy, and tasty food over the Easter, Summer and Winter holidays.
This initiative follows additional funding from The Department for Education (DfE) and support from local partners, including schools, voluntary and community organisations, and childcare providers.
The HAF programme will provide free activities and nutritious meals to young people aged 5 to 16 who are eligible for free school meals. The inclusive environment of the programme allows young people to make new friends, experience new activities, and create lasting memories.
Last summer, an incredible 2,666 children and young people benefited from the HAF programme, including 320 students with special educational needs (SEN). Additionally, 15,692 free meals were served during the holidays.
Cllr Zena Brabazon, Cabinet Member for Children, Schools, and Families, said:
"We are incredibly proud of the impact the HAF programme has had on our community.
“The additional funding from the government and support from our partners will allow us to reach even more families, ensuring that every child has access to enriching activities and nutritious food during the holidays.
“This collaborative initiative is a testament to our commitment to supporting the wellbeing and development of our young people in Haringey."
The HAF programme continues to be a shining example of Haringey's dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all young people, enhancing their academic achievements, developing social skills, and boosting self-esteem.
