We regret to hear from the Living Under One Sun's (LUOS) Trustees that the lease at Down Lane Park will not be extended.

I want to personally thank them for their hard work and the way they have managed the park building. The council is keen to continue working with LUOS on the future of the park and also on their future operations.

We know they are celebrating a special milestone this month with the 20th anniversary of providing free, frontline, community-led neighbourhood services. We will work with LUOS to support current user groups of the building.  This was discussed between the council and Trustees last week.

We are now in a position to call a meeting with the Friends of the Park and co-design group within the next two-weeks to review all the options moving forward as part of our £2.5million investment.

The council is committed to providing facilities within the park, as part of the wider masterplan, although we have had to review the previous proposals given the current financial situation.

We will also look to update on the current park café provision and operation once we have clarified with LUOS about their planned exit. We are determined to ensure the park’s facilities will continue to be available for the use of our residents and park users.
