Approved by Cabinet last night (Tuesday 17th June), the plan will amplify young voices, ensuring they play an active role in shaping the policies that impact their lives.
The Haringey Youth Strategy 2025–2030 was developed together with young people and the wider community. It puts young voices at the forefront and encourages active participation in local decision-making and involvement in shaping the community and its future.
The plan also outlines key steps to help young people reach their goals, with support from skilled professionals, safe environments, and more opportunities to shape the services that impact them.
Clear actions to deliver on the Borough Vision have been included along with ways to measure progress. This will ensure the plan continues to reflect what young people in Haringey want and need.
Cllr Zena Brabazon, Cabinet Member for Children, Schools & Families, said:
This is a landmark moment for Haringey and a proud achievement for our young people as we officially approve the borough's first Youth Strategy.
Young people are the leaders of tomorrow, and it is only right that they have a voice in shaping the policies and services that directly impact their lives. Their insight and participation are invaluable in creating meaningful change.
Through collaboration, we can build a youth offer that truly reflects their needs, equipping them with the tools and confidence to thrive. Our young people have incredible potential, and we know they will go on to become outstanding leaders.
This approach focuses on bringing communities together, fostering stronger partnerships and inclusivity across the borough. It recognises that helping young people thrive is a shared responsibility - bringing together schools, community organisations, and local services to create meaningful opportunities.
Regular reviews will keep the strategy flexible and effective, ensuring young people get the support and opportunities they need as they grow into adulthood.
