A fairer, greener Haringey – what we’ve done so far

We have made great progress in our vision to become a fairer, greener Haringey and are proud to reflect on our achievements over the last three years.

From fixing streets, investing in parks, supporting families and a thriving culture to stronger schools, fairer housing , safer communities and cleaner air, we are delivering for our residents.

We are on track to deliver 3,000 new high-quality homes by 2031, built to the very best environmental and design standards, with more than 2,000 underway or completed and recently announced investment of almost £600m to drive up the comfort and quality of all 20,000 existing council homes over the next ten years.

We have filled 5,399 potholes, resurfaced 188 roads and installed 282 new streetlights, as well as improved 21 local parks, built five new playgrounds and renovated five more, with many more to be upgraded.

Our ambitious Streets for People initiative has seen the introduction of 34 School Streets protecting 16,000 children, almost 300 new electric vehicle chargers and 239 on-street bike hangars.

Children’s Services were awarded a ‘Good’ rating for the first time while SEN services achieved the highest Ofsted rating, and to support families further we are investing £47m into school repairs, opened four new family hubs, provided Council Tax relief for almost 25,000 and ensured our leisure centres are publicly run again, with major improvements and investment underway.

Our borough fizzes with culture, opportunity and possibility and we were thrilled to be named London Borough of Culture for 2027 and the chance to share the stories, ideas, identities and voices of our community through this year-long festival.

Through the Haringey Deal – our commitment to collaboration with residents – 37,000 people have already contributed to our public engagements, and we are tapping into the strength, knowledge, expertise and passion of local people through the Haringey Business Forum, Climate Partnership and Youth Council.

We’ve done a lot so far, but we know there is much more to achieve, and we will continue co-designing and collaborating with our community to deliver for all residents in Haringey.
