‘Day of Action’ for Northumberland Park residents

Northumberland Park residents had the opportunity to raise local issues with Haringey Council staff and the police during a dedicated ‘Day of Action’ this week.

Deputy Leader Cllr Sarah Williams joined officers to hear concerns at the pop-up engagement stalls behind the Neighbourhood Resource Centre (NRC).

The day saw several council service teams – including Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB), Estates and Neighbourhoods, Housing Tenancy, Public Health, Repairs and Waste (Veolia Haringey) – conduct joint patrols with the police and be stationed at the stalls.

Teams also worked together around the Rothbury Walk estate to deal with long-standing issues, clean up the area and meet the local community.

Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning, Cllr Sarah Williams, said:

Community safety and the prevention of anti-social behaviour and crime is fundamentally important to businesses and residents in the area.

We’ve had council officers and partners, such as the police, listen to the feedback and concerns of residents. It was very encouraging to see so many residents engaging with us at the stall and during the walkabout.

We can build an even better, cleaner and safer Haringey together for us all to enjoy.

A repairs surgery took place in the NRC, while local residents could pick up a free food caddie and receive information about recycling throughout this Day of Action.

There was an estate walkabout and an ASB surgery in the NRC and cyclists could get security marking on their bikes for free.

The council is committed to working in partnership with the police to reduce ASB and crime in Northumberland Park.

Please continue to report incidents of ASB and crime – especially in relation to unwelcome visitors to your blocks – to the police by calling 101. It will help provide the evidence we need to ask the courts to approve any additional closure orders. You should always dial 999 in an emergency.
