Have your say: Consultation on the draft SEND and Alternative Provision Strategy (2026–2029)

We’ve refreshed our SEND and Alternative Provision (AP) Strategy for 2026–2029. The draft strategy has been co-produced with stakeholders, and we are now seeking your feedback before it is finalised.

This strategy sets out how we aim to improve outcomes and experiences for children and young people with SEND and those educated in Alternative Provision, along with their families.

What are we consulting on?

We want your views on five proposed priorities that will shape the final strategy. These priorities outline how we plan to achieve our goal of improving outcomes and experiences over the next three years.

The five priorities

1. Early intervention

We will continue to embed or develop early intervention approaches, so children and young people with SEND and/or who are educated in Alternative Provision make progress from their individual starting points.

2. High-quality local provision

High quality local provision for local children - wherever possible, we will meet the needs of Haringey’s children who require support to meet their SEND needs or who are educated in Alternative Provision within or close to our own borough.

3. Responsive local offer

We will continue to keep our Local Offer under review to maintain the quality of our provision and support and respond to emerging or changing needs.

4. Authentic co-production

We will continue to listen and act on the lived experiences of children and young people with SEND and/or those who are educated in Alternative Provision (AP) and their families or carers through authentic co-production.

5. Preparation for adulthood

We will embed independence and preparation for adulthood throughout every phase of education and strengthen support at the point of transfer to their lifelong adult pathway.

You can read the full draft strategy document for more detail.

Why your feedback matters

Do these priorities reflect the needs and aspirations of children, young people, parents, and carers? Your views will help shape the final strategy, which is expected to be published in March 2026.
